"Salman Rushdie is my friend only and I had seen him once upon a time. We used to always to talk over phone" refuting the rumours by a section of people actress Riya Sen said that she was once introduced to the 66-year-old famous author Salman by an industrialist.Since, then she had been talking with him over phone and when he asked her to go for a round, she had refused it, Ms.Sen said to a group of journalists.

She also pointed out that there was rumour that her mother had relationships with the author. She said, her mother had seen him never in his life.

"What the people gain by making such awkard statements?" asks Riya Sen.
