The child artiste's father Mohammed Ismail who is a TB patient said that his son had taken on the world and won and added that he was proud of his son and demanded more money and also a house as promised by the producer. " I think they will not fulfill the promises that was made before my son was taken for the shooting of the film" said Mohammed. He also said, that still he was living in the slum, and the Oscar had not catapulted his family financially.

The latest demand comes amid reports that the child actor, who was plucked from a Mumbai slum to act in the movie, will get less than 20,000 pound from the producers of the eight Oscar-winning film, which grossed over 123 million pound at the box-office, the Daily Mail reported.

The 10-year-old Azharuddin Ismail, who played the young Salim, the brother of lead protagonist Jamal in "Slumdog Millionaire" returned to his shanty home on Thursday after a dream visit to Oscar awards and Disneyland.


Ismail, who lives in a shack and makes a living by selling scrap, said the money given to his son was not "enough" and they needed more immediately.

Azharuddin and Rubina Ali, who hail from a slum in Mumbai played young Salim and Latika in the film.
